Our Twomey Family Remorial is set to return please God in Meelin and Rockchapel on June 11th and 12th. We will open our weekend with our fun table quiz with Aonghus. This year, for safety reasons our quiz be held outdoors in the beautiful new beer garden at Quinlan’s Bar in Meelin Village.
On Sunday morning at 8.30 am we’ll be leaving Rockchapel village and cycling 55k around beautiful Duhallow, heading back through ‘Meelin, the Highest Village in Ireland’ :) There will be water stations and energy boosts during the cycle and plenty of nibbles awaiting your return to our scenic Rockchapel village :)
We will have Mass in St. Peter’s Church in Rockchapel at 10 am to remember Con, Baba Oisín and Baby Elber-Marie. Mass will be offered for all of your intentions.
At 12 noon our 4 mile family walk will leave beautiful Meelin village and this will be followed by our 4 mile run at 1pm. There will be lots of treats and live music to welcome everybody back.
Over the past 2 years sadly we were not able for safety reasons to hold our physical Twomey Family Remorial but were truly overwhelmed by the number of wonderful people who joined in our Virtual. This year we look forward to welcoming people for near and far both physically and virtually :) If you can’t for one reason or another travel to be with us, we’d love you to join us virtually and be sure to send on your photos for our album. The National Rehabilitation Hospital Dún Laoghaire is a new addition to our charities. This is owing to the fact that Con’s dear friend, our groomsman and work colleague, Michael Cronin, is now a patient in Dún Laoghaire recovering from serious injuries. Michael used to bring a team from Bishopstown GAA each year, for the ‘Connie Twomey Memorial Hurling Cup’ and never missed our quiz.
I have visited the NRH a number of times thanks to the Road Safety Authority. They do amazing work there for people with life changing injuries. In 2012 it was our hope that Con would travel there. Sadly for us he wasn’t able to but I know only too well Con would want the NRH to be helped for Mick.
